Hey everyone, it's time to get involved in the club and help push us to be better in 2010 then we were in 2009. If you've been coming along for a while and are interested in putting the club on a new path, if you're a good organiser and think you can help with booking transport, organising entries, and entering races, or if you're a massive cynic who thinks this is an easy way to pad out your CV with extra curriculae then this is where you nominate!

Agenda:
-President's address and welcome new members
-Review minutes of the last meeting
-Election of new executive (President, Vice president, Secretary, Treasurer, Social Officer, Registrar, Public Officer)
-Questions with notice
-Questions without notice
-End of meeting

So that's really it! All of the positions are pretty light on work and good fun - even if you're a first year have a think about it as it's a good way to get involved in university life!

Also if you have any questions or suggestions you would like noted in the agenda then email them to me at u4230076@anu.edu.au and i'll add them in.

Hope to see you all there,

Matthew Parton,
President

Welcome to all the new people who have joined up in the last week - we're looking forward to having you as active club members.

Keep an eye on this page and also add yourselves to the group ANU Athletics Club as that's the main way that we communicate with you all.

Trainings are going to be Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 630pm at south oval where we will be doing a variety of different training types tailored for what kind of running you want to do and how serious you want to be with it. Michael and I (Matt) have a wealth of training knowlege we want to share and are more than happy to write up a free training program for all club members.

Also - if you or someone you know is keen on competing in the Canberra Half Marathon it's coming up soon (14th March to be precise) so now's the time to get training for it.

So that's it for now, hope to see you all at training next Monday!

Training on Monday 15 June will be at the AIS track in Bruce starting at 3:45pm

There will be cars leaving from south oval at 3:30pm for those who do not have transport.

This would be a really good session for those athletes looking to race on the track on Sunday June 21 at the 'high noon meet' (fantastic results and good reports from everyone who competed last time so consider coming and haveing a race if you gave it a miss 2 weeks ago). Training will consits of a 800m time trial followed by some diagonal sprints - nothing too hard though ;-)

'High Noon Meet' Event Report

On Sunday the brave boys and girl of the ANU aths club took to the (track and) field against ACT's finest in the first of the winter season's 'high noon meets'

New member Patrick Williams ran a stellar 3rd in the 1500m to complete the ANU trifecta with Theo Kelly and Matthew Parton.

In the ladies 1500m Elise Cole ran valiantly but had to settle for 2nd, being passed on the line.

Performance of the day however, goes to Jesse whose effort in the  blue ribbon event (shot put) was unparalleled. Not the plethora of 12-year-old girls, the 70 year-old veteran or the actual shot-putters could stop him from taking out the event in impressive style. Well done mate.

For info about the next 'High Noon meet' check out the below link and click on provisional timetables.

Upcoming Training.
This Wednesday (3rd) sees us back on south oval for intervals and Saturday we'll be there again with the run gauged for the group.

Athletics ACT 'High noon meet' 31st May

Over winter Athletics ACT runs a series of monthly track events aimed at keeping people racing in the athletics off season. The first of these is on at the AIS track on 31st May. We are hoping to be there in force, get a few people on the track and see some quality racing, maybe even Hazan! Cost is $10 for as many events as you can fit in and is well worth it!

The event timetable and further information for these races is at: http://www.athleticsact.org.au under 'competition and events/track and field
